Workplace Day of Action for Palestine 14th May

We are calling on workers across all sectors to take part in the next Workplace Day of Action for Palestine on Thursday 14th May during Nakba week, to challenge complicity in Israel’s genocide and demand justice for the Palestinian people.

From local government pension fund investments and to corporate contracts with complicit companies, British institutions are tied to and support systems which enable Israel’s genocide and system of apartheid against the Palestinian people.

Workplace days of action are a way for us as workers to confront their complicity, to demand boycott, divestment and sanctions and to get organised.

How to take part

Step 1: Pledge to take part!
Pledge to take part HERE.

By letting us know you will be taking part, you will receive access to updates, resources and support from PSC in the build up to the day, and afterwards. If you are interested in taking action and want to find out more about what you can do, contact us here.

Step 2: Download the workplace organising toolkit
After registering, you’ll receive access to our organising toolkit, including guidance, resources, and practical ideas to help you plan an action in your workplace and communicate about the day with your colleagues.

Step 3: Organise with your colleagues
Work with your colleagues to decide on the most effective action for your workplace. No action is too small.

  • For your first time taking an action, we would advise hosting a union or staff meeting to launch your workplace campaign for Palestine and starting conversations about how your workplace is complicit.
  • Launching a petition or open letter to management to put across demands for boycotts and divestments.
  • Coordinating a visible collective workplace action, e.g. wearing badges for Palestine, putting up posters or staging a lunch time walkout.
  • Building an ongoing organising group beyond the day itself to take forward the demands and keep building the momentum.

Why a workplace day of action?

  • They send a clear message to employers, genocide is a workers issue as much as pay, terms and conditions. Trade unions have a long history of international solidarity and struggle for workers rights and Palestine are connected.
  • They build power in the workplace, creating opportunities for colleagues to organise together, often for the first time around shared support for Palestine and anti-colonialism.
  • They challenge institutional complicity, put pressure on employers to end investments, contracts, and partnerships tied to Israel’s genocide and open up a space to demand a break from the norm of unethical investments and purchases.

Whether you are experienced or new to workplace organising, this day is about taking collective steps to break silence in workplaces in Britain and answer the call of Palestinians for boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel.

Register now, download the toolkit, and start organising for Palestine in your workplace.

We strongly recommend being part of a trade union, if you are not already, please check out the TUC trade union guide to find the right union for you here.

If you are a student taking action, make sure to connect with your local university union branches to coordinate actions!
