Gathering for Gaza 4th April – Archive

Please join us as we gather for Gaza this Saturday. This week we will be focusing on the illegal war against Iran and the invasion of Lebanon, and the consequences these have for the people of Palestine. We will meet opposite Waterstones as usual at 11:00, and at 11:30 we will march through town.

AN ILLEGAL WAR

This war has already killed over 2000 people, mainly civilians, bombing schools and hospitals.
It was started while the USA and Iran were in negotiations.
It’s an illegal war, trying to achieve regime change, which is not permitted under international
law.
It has brought death and destruction across the Middle East. Israel’s invasion of Lebanon
using the same war techniques as practised in Gaza – including indiscriminate bombing and
targeting of health workers – is a further war crime.

ISRAEL CONTINUES TO ATTACK PALESTINIANS

Meanwhile Israel’s ruthless crimes against the Palestinian people continue. There is no
ceasefire for the Palestinians in Gaza. Israelis continue their violent settler attacks and
seizing of Palestinian homes and land in the West Bank. The Israeli government plans to
create a ‘greater Israel’ and is using the Iran war to pursue this aim.

GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS

This war is also creating a global economic crisis as energy prices soar.

CALL FOR AN END TO UK INVOLVEMENT

Keir Starmer’s government has allowed the US to use British bases for its bombing missions,
with planes taking off from Fairford to kill Iranians. This follows his total complicity with the
genocide in Gaza.
The people of Britain and of the Middle East are all losers in this war. We will all pay the
human and economic costs unless we end it now.
